Learning Suggestions For young children

Elementary age

:: Become aware of your child's learning style. Children's Corner

:: Read aloud as much as you can - books above child's reading level. Good literature improves
vocabulary, grammar and writing. Early Years Read-Alouds

:: Games, puzzles, drawing, any creative activities are very important for the imagination and
creativity. Draw-Write-Now

:: Keep structured learning minimal. Reading, writing and math can be accomplished in 1 to 2
hours.

:: If your child is losing focus try cross brain exercises: Reverse jumping jacks (arms up when
legs are together). Toe touches with opposite hand. Brain Exercises

:: If you or your child become stressed, take the day off or find a new way to present the
material. Avoiding Homeschool Burnout

Middle age

:: Use child's interests and strengths for subject material.

:: Begin more challenging high school subjects that your child excels in the most.

:: Spend time on subjects your child enjoys. If math is difficult, work on it, but don't neglect
their love for art, music, writing etc....

:: Allow subjects to take more than a year or less than a year. Taking time to understand algebra
will go a long way when it comes time for college.
