High School students have several ways to work towards a diploma. Of course, there is the traditional textbook path, earn credits through a portfolio or by means of essays and research, and dont' forget life experiences and work/apprentice opportunities. |
Diploma Requirements: click on the type of diploma you will be working on for a diploma preparation worksheet. Standard Diploma: 22 credits :: 3 each of Math/History/Science/English - 10 elective credits Academic Diploma: 24 credits :: 4 each of Math/History/Science/English - 8 elective credits Required subjects :: Algebra 1, Biology, US History and World History Advanced College Prep Diploma: 26 credits :: 4 each of Math/History/Science/English - 10 elective credits Required subjects: Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, Biology, US History and World History, ACT/SAT score of 16 composite or better. Highly recommended: Foreign Language, Chemistry, Basic Computer Skills, Literature Requirement options for enrollment in a Jr or Community College: 1. A diploma and an ACT/SAT score of 16 composite. (Most AL Colleges want a ACT score) 2. A diploma and an Alabama Exit Exam Score 3. A GED score 4. Take the Asset test for the Ability to Benfit program and pass. |
