What does compulsory
education often do?
It makes a straight-cut
ditch of a
free,meandering brook.
-Henry David Thoreau
Rosewood Academy's ministry is to provide a
legal church school cover for families that have
decided to accept the responsibility of their
child's learning experience.

Learning is a verb different than teaching or
educating- learning is something you do, not
something done to you. A child owns the word
"learn". Children are not only capable of learning
but want to learn. The home is an ideal setting
for children to explore their unique talents,
develop their strengths, and realize their
potential. A beautiful thing happens when a child
becomes aware of their capabilities;
independence, self-direction, aspirations, and
free creative expression ensue. A child that is
alive and full of vitality experiences true
self-esteem.

Philosophy:
My Rights

I have a right to laugh and be happy,
Express my ideas and feelings freely,
Nobody has a right to laugh at me and
hurt my feelings.

I have a right to be respected as a
person,
No matter how I look,
Whether I am a boy or a girl,
I deserve to be treated fairly.

I have a right to be safe.
Nobody has a right to hit, kick, push,
or try to touch me in a way that
makes me feel uncomfortable.

I have a right to say NO,
Either to a young person or an adult
when I am asked to do something that
is dangerous or wrong, or simply
does not seem right to me,
I am able to say NO.

I have a right to ask questions and
learn.
I have a right to follow my dreams.
I have a right to be proud of the
things I do well, proud of myself.
